We indulged in a traditional British treat at one of the most illustrious hotels in the world and, we must say, we felt like royalty.
As frequent visitors to London, we have savored many afternoon teas in the English capital, but this experience was unparalleled.
The first thing you encounter, even before entering the hotel, is the dress code. Reflecting the elegance synonymous with the hotel’s architecture, The Ritz London enforces a strict dress code. Gentlemen are required to don a jacket and tie. Should you fall short of these requirements, you are courteously provided with appropriate attire, even having the liberty to choose the color of your tie.
Nestled in the heart of one of the busiest and largest cities in the world - London - and merely a few hundred meters from the iconic Piccadilly Circus, The Ritz stands as a haven of tranquility amidst the urban hustle. Upon entering, the noise of the city fades into oblivion, replaced by a quiet, elegant, and prestigious ambiance. The unique atmosphere and lavish décor are simply breathtaking. We meandered through the exquisite lobby into the Palm Court, where our table awaited us, setting the stage for a magnificent afternoon tea experience we would always cherish.
To grasp the extravagance and popularity of this tradition, consider this: securing a reservation for a Saturday requires a three-month advance booking, despite the hotel offering five sittings of afternoon tea daily, beginning as early as 10:00 am.
Every day, from 11:30 am to 9:00 pm, guests are serenaded by the resident pianist, harpist, or string quintet, who gracefully play classical and contemporary tunes, enriching the delightful afternoon tea experience.
The Ritz takes pride in being a member of the Tea Council's esteemed Tea Guild, which is a testament to its top-tier menu. From cheddar cheese sandwiches to Scottish smoked salmon, freshly baked raisin and plain scones, the menu is exceptionally rich, catering to every discerning palate. You can choose from an extensive selection of loose leaf teas from The Ritz’s repertoire to accompany your meal.
As the experience concludes, stepping out of the hotel thrusts you back into the bustling reality of London's streets. Yet, the afternoon tea at the legendary Ritz leaves you with cherished memories that transcend the bustling streets and crowded pathways, nestling in your heart as a timeless treasure.
