Why should you come here?
Experience world-class dining at the numerous restaurants situated near the main reception and pool. We particularly enjoyed the intimate setting of Turquoise, which serves both continental and Asian cuisine against a breathtaking panoramic ocean backdrop. Vela, with its laid-back atmosphere and impressive international menu, is also a must-visit. We received a delightful surprise in the form of a candlelit dinner on the beach, complete with snacks, champagne, and various other delicacies. The rooms, each boasting its own garden or direct walkway to the sea, added to the romantic ambiance.
The most special thing about the hotel
The color of the water is etched in my memory. It's truly incredible – a clear turquoise blue that forms the ideal backdrop for this sandy paradise. No matter where you are in the resort, the ocean is always within view. We were also charmed by the friendly heron that roams the island, now considered its symbol. Don't forget to greet it when you visit!
The staff are incredibly warm and friendly. The team is also quite international – we met individuals from Russia, Ukraine, Europe, and even Costa Rica. The general manager, Brian, hails from Zimbabwe. We enjoyed a delightful evening meal with him and his wife. They even invited us to join them for a party, an invitation we happily accepted!

By the way, there's also an early morning sunrise cruise for early birds. The capital city of Male is in close proximity to Velassaru, though you'd hardly feel its bustling presence from the serene confines of the resort. Recognized as one of the most beautiful over-water spas in the Maldives, it boasts ten treatment rooms, a pool, and a yoga pavilion, all perched on stilts above the clear blue lagoon, offering uninterrupted ocean views. We had the privilege of experiencing it, and we must admit - it was superb.
