Our Arrival & First Impressions
We arrived after a long train ride, followed by a shuttle, and as soon as we stepped through the doors of Fuji Speedway Hotel, we realized this was unlike any hotel we’d stayed in before. The architecture — clean concrete, vast glass panes, sharp minimalist lines — felt both futuristic and intimately Japanese. Hospitality was immediate: warm welcomes, swift check-in, and a sense that every staff member knew what makes this place special.

Our Suite & the Views
We were lucky to stay one night in a suite with balcony overlooking the racing track. From that balcony we looked straight onto the circuit — the roar of engines, even in rain, became our soundtrack. The suite itself was spacious, with spa-style bathroom, plush finishes, and thoughtful design elements. We could also glimpse Mount Fuji from the right angle; the interplay of track, mountain, and sky was something unforgettable.
Dining: Flavours, Ceremony & Sake
Dinner in Robata Oyama was one of the absolute highlights of our stay — an evening that felt more like a ceremony than a meal. We were seated at a beautifully lit counter where the chefs worked right in front of us, their movements precise and calm, every gesture deliberate. What followed was a full-course Japanese dinner, an elegant progression of flavours that celebrated both the season and the art of simplicity.
We started with a selection of delicate appetizers — tender marinated fish, artfully arranged seasonal vegetables, and a perfectly clear, subtly seasoned broth that captured the essence of traditional Japanese refinement. Then came the star of the night: the Wagyu steak. It wasn’t just good; it was the best Wagyu we’ve ever tasted — buttery, tender, and impossibly flavorful, cooked to perfection on the open robata grill. The chef sliced it before us with quiet confidence, and the aroma alone was unforgettable.
Alongside it came an array of traditional Japanese fish dishes — fresh sashimi, lightly grilled fillets, and a few local specialties we had never tried before. Each plate was balanced with care, the presentation so beautiful it almost felt wrong to eat it. The meal unfolded slowly, paired with chilled sake that complemented every bite, creating a rhythm between food and drink that felt meditative.
By the time we reached dessert, we realized we hadn’t just dined — we’d experienced a story told through flavour and tradition. The service was impeccable, with staff explaining every ingredient and ensuring each course arrived at the perfect moment. It was a dinner that reminded us why Japanese cuisine is considered an art form — one that lingers in your memory long after the final sip of sake.
Other Activities
The hotel gives you a chance to sharpen your skills in its state-of-the-art racing simulator. Equipped with professional-grade hardware and an ultra-realistic motion seat, the simulator allows you to experience every twist, turn, and elevation change of the Fuji Speedway in full 3D immersion. It’s the perfect warm-up for racing enthusiasts and an unforgettable introduction for beginners — helping you learn the track’s rhythm without burning a drop of fuel.
After the adrenaline comes calm. The hotel’s spa, indoor and outdoor pools (both hot and cold), and onsen-style baths invite you to unwind in complete tranquility. We floated, watched the sky, and listened to the faint echoes of engines in the distance — a rare blend of serenity and speed, nature and design, all brought together with Japanese precision.
And then there’s the motorsports museum — one of the most surprisingly touching parts of our stay. Real race cars, historic engines, art installations, and intricate design details tell the story of Japan’s deep automotive heritage. Even the smallest touches, from model cars to bolts embedded in the decor, show how thoughtfully everything has been curated. We’ll never forget waking up to the distant sound of engines starting up — a vivid, living reminder that here, the spirit of racing never sleeps.
On the Track — Our Adrenaline Fix
One of the most unique experiences offered by Fuji Speedway Hotel is the ability to book time on the actual Fuji Speedway track. Guests can arrange a professional driving session, rent a sports car, or even bring their own to test its limits on this legendary circuit. It’s an incredible opportunity — few hotels in the world can say their guests fall asleep overlooking a racetrack and wake up ready to drive on it.
Even though it was raining, which meant driving slower than we’d have liked, we still got to experience the track — and what an experience it was. Standing there, helmet in hand, surrounded by the sound of revving engines and the scent of wet asphalt, we felt that unmistakable tingle of excitement that only motorsports can bring. The Fuji Speedway isn’t just any track — it’s one of Japan’s most iconic circuits, and seeing it from the driver’s perspective rather than the spectator’s was something truly special.
As we took the wheel, the rain created a silvery sheen across the surface, reflecting the lights and distant shape of Mount Fuji. Corners came fast and smooth, the tires hissed against the water, and for a moment we forgot everything except the rhythm of the drive. The adrenaline rush was balanced by a deep sense of control — a feeling that’s impossible to describe until you’ve done a lap yourself.
Even when we weren’t on the circuit, the track was a constant presence. From our balcony, we could see cars gliding past, hear engines roaring in the distance, and feel the hum of energy that defines this place. It’s one of the few hotels in the world where you can literally wake up, open your curtains, and watch live racing without leaving your room. How to get there?
We came from Tokyo by train, then transferred, and were pleased that the hotel’s shuttle from the nearest station worked smoothly. On the way back we took a direct bus to Tokyo. While remote, it isn’t inaccessible, especially if you plan ahead. For travel lovers, couples, families, it offers a blend: solitude, nature, thrill.
Who It’s For & Where It Shines
This is a hotel that shines for racing enthusiasts for obvious reasons — track access, museum, driving opportunities. But it also works beautifully for couples (romantic dinners, mountain vistas, calm before race day), and families (kids will love the cars, the views, the pool, the novelty). If you want adventure + luxury + something you haven’t seen before — this is it.
One of the most impressive highlights is the two-story motorsports museum located right inside the hotel. It’s not just a display — it’s a journey through Japan’s automotive culture.
