Exceed your Expectations
Elite Hotel Savoy Malmo
The hotel boasts a long and intriguing history. Initially opened as an inn in the 1300s, it has since undergone numerous transformations – it even served as a nightclub at one juncture. The hotel adopted its current name, Savoy, in 1902. A well-travelled guest of that era remarked that it rivalled the Savoy Hotel in London! Over the years, the hotel has welcomed many illustrious guests, including Judy Garland, Sammy Davis Jr., and even Lenin!
The Most Special Thing About the Hotel!
We were captivated by the blend of old and new. While the hotel exudes a classical ambiance, it's furnished with all the modern amenities one could desire, including a gym, spa, air conditioning in every room, and six expansive conference rooms. Upon entering the hotel, guests are welcomed by a grand antique clock, and intriguingly, the hotel boasts its own water tower (which, naturally, is no longer in operation). Some conference rooms feature distinctive paintings of Malmo's old town on their walls. These artworks are under a preservation order, ensuring they remained untouched even during the hotel's renovation.
Why should you come here?
To enjoy all that Malmö has to offer from a very central location. Hit the shops, stroll around the wonderfully historic old town or explore the new district on the Baltic Sea. The Elite Plaza Hotel Malmö is located at Gustav Adolfs torg, and is surrounded by so many restaurants and shops you’ll be spoilt for choice!
Our first stop on this leg of the journey was Singapore. It was not only my first time in this country but also in Asia, so I was unsure of what to expect. However, one thing was certain even as we were still at the airport: our stay would be exceptional. The reason? We were staying at the Grand Hyatt Singapore. We had previously collaborated with this hotel in Zurich, Switzerland, and in the Maldives, enjoying a stellar experience on each occasion.
I can assert from the outset that this stay was no different. The hotel is situated just outside the city centre, in a vibrant shopping and entertainment district. The drive took no more than 20 minutes.
Bishop's Arms gastropub
Be sure to visit the renowned Bishop’s Arms gastropub situated adjacent to the hotel. Renowned for its expansive selection of food and beverages, the Bishop’s Arms boasts one of the country's most extensive collections of beers and whiskies. The skilled and knowledgeable staff are always eager to guide you through their vast and intriguing array, and they can even organize beer and whiskey tastings. The gastropub's library is impressive, housing books in multiple languages. You are welcome to borrow a book, provided you leave one of your own in its place!
What else is there to do and see?
Situated at the heart of Malmö, there's never a dull moment. As Sweden’s third-largest city, Malmö boasts a contemporary, forward-thinking ambiance. It's renowned for housing Scandinavia's tallest building, lush parks, avant-garde museums, and exceptional cuisine. The iconic Öresund Bridge links Malmö to Copenhagen, adding to the city's vibrant urban energy. Furthermore, Malmö takes pride in being Sweden’s most multicultural city. Here, one can explore Middle Eastern street stalls, savor authentic Italian coffee, or visit trendy skateboard parks – all harmoniously existing side by side. The Gamla Staden (Old Town) serves as the soul of Malmö, with the Malmöhus Slott castle majestically set amidst greenery. Just across the canal, the revitalized harbour district beckons with top-tier cafes and eateries.
