For quite a few years I used to be a heavy business traveler
mostly in Europe, and grew to like this way of life and know my way around it. But as a consequence for my leisure trips I’m rather looking for more relaxed, calm, unspoilt and authentic destinations and accommodation. A huge fan of Asia I’m only starting to explore other continents and the list is long…
About me
I’m from Latvia and after spending three beautiful years in amazing Milan I now share my time between my beloved Riga and oh-so-chic French Riviera. Traveling for me means exploring local history, culture, art and certainly food. The latter itself can tell so much about the people and the place!
1. What is your favourite place on Earth?
It is Liepaja, a cozy small city by the Baltic Sea in Western Latvia. This is where my family roots are and I need to visit it at least once a year to re-charge.
2. Which hotel are you most happy to wake up in the morning?
One that is true to its location, especially in architectural style and historical authenticity. Such as Regina Palace on Lago Maggiore or Cristallo in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Promenade Hotel in Liepaja or Mandarin Oriental in Bangkok.
3. What was your best travel experience?
For me it is probably a return trip to the place I liked – while the first acquaintance has sometimes a wow-effect and is pretty overwhelming, the next time there is always a more authentic and in-depth experience.
4. What are the top 3 things on your Travel Bucket List?
Japan, Argentina and Portugal for new experiences; New York, Venice and London to return again and again.
5. What is always in your travel bag?
A paper notebook to write down some observations.
