Trip to istanbul with Turkish Airlines
We heard a lot of enthusiastic reviews about flights with Turkish Airlines and last month we were able to fly to Istanbul with this airline. The first thing that I want to talk about is the food on board. Flying with Turkish Airlines is a gastronomic adventure.
No wonder Skytrax has repeatedly awarded the company first place in the “Best Meal on Board” ranking. At takeoff, instead of the usual sweets, passengers are given Turkish delights. We flew business class and enjoyed ginger lemonade. The company offers the “Flying Chefs” programme. This operates in business class. There is no open kitchen on board and the chef’s task is to properly heat up and serve the dishes. The menu includes traditional Turkish dishes: kebab, manti or karniyarik, and the national food of your destination. All food is prepared without artificial additives. And, yes, it's delicious. The flight went without a hitch and we arrived in Turkey’s capital.
Separately, I would like to tell you about Istanbul Airport. It is striking in size: huge, like a futuristic project. No wonder it is called the airport of the future. You get the impression that the terminal is half empty: a lot of space and few people. Experts have designed the airport where everything is done for passengers’ convenience: to speed up the exit from the arrival zone, there are travelators, benches, chairs and even soft sunbeds everywhere! Throughout the airport, there are signs in Turkish and English. But strangers can get lost. Therefore, watch the time when exploring Istanbul Airport. On the way back from Istanbul, we went to the Turkish Airlines business lounge. It is considered the best in the world. Here you can not only take a break from a long flight, but also enjoy the culinary delights of the chefs who cook in front of guests. The variety of treats impressed us: individual dishes for vegetarians, healthy eaters or meat lovers. And the coffee there is so good!
In the lounge area you can also sleep in a comfortable room, take a shower and even play golf on the simulator. If you are travelling through Istanbul with Turkish Airlines, you can take advantage of free hotel accommodation or a free tour of the Turkish capital. Free accommodation at the Istanbul Hotel is provided if there is a transfer between two international Turkish Airlines flights for at least 10 hours (in business class for at least 7 hours). You will be given free accommodation in a 4 or 5 star hotel for up to two days. The service includes a free round trip transfer.
To enjoy a tour of the Turkish capital, you must have a transfer in Istanbul between two international flights and the duration of your layover must be at least 6 hours and no more than 24 hours. The itinerary of the free tour includes up to two meals and entrance to the attractions without waiting in line. No advance reservation is required and it is not possible to book tours in advance. To access the free tour, look for a counter marked Touristanbul in the arrival hall of Istanbul Airport. Nearby is the hotel desk, which provides free shuttle service. "Turkish airlines" is doing everything possible to win travellers’ affections and we can say that they are succeeding.
