Matahari Beach Resort & Spa: Experience the Quietness of North Bali

All the fruits and vegetables come directly from local farmers. You can even try a local wine from the grapes grown on the fruitful land in northern Bali.
This is the perfect place to relax and unwind. Days can be filled with walks on the deserted beach of the Java Sea, yoga or mediation amidst fragrant jasmine, hibiscus and frangipani lush gardens while listening to the tropical birds singing, or with a bike ride in the beautiful surroundings of the Barat National Park.
If you would like to get more adventurous, you can easily go snorkeling and diving in the intensely colorful waters with living coral reefs and explore the dazzling fish and the outlandish sea creatures.
I loved staying in a traditional-style villa – which was finished with a marble bathroom and an open shower, where you could stand under the flowing water coming out of a mouth of a mystical dragon.
The resort is constructed only from local materials such as sandstone, marble, palimanan, wood and bamboo, which gives the resort a special touch and ambience. You can even examine the details in many of the stone carvings that have a connection to the local culture.
Was it worth coming here from the south of Bali and spending 4-hours in a car? Absolutely. And, I would definitely recommend coming here in the rainy season, as the high mountain ranges to the south protect the resort from the main winds.
Even visiting in the months from November through February, is one of the more enjoyable times of the year mainly because the north gets a distinctly higher rate of sunshine than the south of the island. And one last thought, for those who don’t want to spend too much time traveling by car to reach this unique destination, you can always enjoy a helicopter ride provided by the hotel.
