The Royal Lancaster Hotel: The Place where The Beatles Partied 50 Years Ago

Located right in front of Hyde Park, just a 15-minute walk from busy Oxford Street, the Royal Lancaster is a good choice for upscale travellers. The hotel was fully refurbished in 2017 and looks very fresh and modern inside. The white marble lobby is impressive, with a lofty reception space and a palatial sweeping staircase made of 300 square metres of white Carrara marble.

The Royal Lancaster Hotel

Like many hotels in London, the hotel has a rich and celebrated past, having opened as one of the most chic hotels in London in 1967.

The hotel also famously hosted the after-party for The Beatles’ “Yellow Submarine” film premiere, and many other celebrity events.

Stylish hotel in centre of London

Today, we see a completely different Royal Lancaster – modern and stylish.

Our stylish room

The hotel features lots of new technology, like button-regulated showers and mobile guides in the rooms. But one thing has remained - the view of Hyde Park and the city skyline is a wonderful bonus to any stay.

Getting ready for dinner

Our best memories came from the authentic Thai restaurant, Nipa. The owners of the hotel have Thai roots and our experience was really enjoyable.

Dinner in Nipa restaurant

The menu contains every Thai dish imaginable and the food is served with famous Thai hospitality.

Tom Kha soup

I always judge a Thai restaurant by the Tom Kha soup (coconut milk soup with prawns or chicken) and, here, it was perfect - as were the sweet and sour fish, papaya salad, oyster sauce vegetables and home-made mango ice cream as a final twist.

The breakfast at The Island Grill restaurant was also delicious – I recommend taking a seat by the window and enjoying your morning coffee with a view of the Hyde Park fountains.

The Royal Lancaster Hotel

Despite the fact that the hotel boasts more than 400 rooms on 18 storeys and is one of the largest banqueting venues in Europe, it strangely doesn’t feel like a big, busy hotel. The restaurants are intimate and very cosy, as is the newly opened Hyde Lobby Bar. All in all, a truly memorable oasis in the heart of London.

I fell in love with traveling much earlier than I fell in love with my first man. And I'm still faithful to that love (But I have exchanged some men since my first one). I have never had a reason to regret my passion. I constantly dream of going further, it gives me indescribable emotions and meaning to my life.
