Ai Fiori Restaurant in NYC: Among the Flowers on Fifth Avenue

This award-winning, Michelin-starred restaurant in the stylish Langham Palace Hotel on Fifth Avenue celebrates cuisine from the Italian and French Riviera and showcases modern interpretations of traditional regional dishes by the famous chef, Michaele White.

Drinking wine in Ai Fiori

If you are here for dinner, I suggest starting in the inviting bar and lounge, which has an extensive cocktail and wine list. There are more than 1,000 wines on the Ai Fiori wine list! After enjoing your drink, you will be ready to start your gourmet adventure “among the flowers” (as it says in Italian in the name of the restaurant).

Dining in Ai Fiori

The design of the restaurant interior is very appealing – attractive lighting with crisp white tablecloths, and beautiful paintings on the dark polished wooden walls. I would call it “democratic luxury”, where every detail is thought of but, at the same time, you still feel comfortable wearing jeans.

Lobster bisque soup

Even as I was eating my starter - Insalata di Astice with Nova Scotia lobster, sunchokes, brown butter and radicchio treviso - I realised what a great place this is. New York Post critic Steve Cuozzo called this dish “the best in the world” with good reason.

The lobster bisque soup was one of the best I’ve ever had.

Hand-made pasta

As one might expect of a Michaele White restaurant, the hand-made pasta here is masterful. I had the perfect al dente spaghetti, evenly coated in subtly sweet tomato sauce with flaky crabmeat, gently spiced red chillies, and grated bottarga.

Australian rack of lamb

The main dish also didn’t disappoint. The herb-crusted Australian rack of lamb was tender and amazingly delicious.

Delicious dessert

The dessert - a glass of sorbet and a strong Italian cappuccino - was a nice sweet note to finish this fantastic lunch.

As with all modern restaurant nowadays, the restaurant provides different menu options - à la carte, prix-fixe, and a tasting menu for lunch and dinner. I suggest going for the 7-Course Chef's Tasting Menu ($150) for dinner or the 5-Course Tasting Menu ($85) for lunch.

I fell in love with traveling much earlier than I fell in love with my first man. And I'm still faithful to that love (But I have exchanged some men since my first one). I have never had a reason to regret my passion. I constantly dream of going further, it gives me indescribable emotions and meaning to my life.
