Made in Louise: Boutique Hotel in the Heart of Brussels

Made in Louise is a boutique hotel in Brussels where charm is a way of life. Situated in the Art Nouveau district of Ixelles, guests can enjoy the kind of hospitality that can only be experienced in a family-run setting.

The owners, a brother and sister team with over ten years’ experience in the hospitality industry, finally realised their dream of running their own hotel in 2011. They describe Made in Louise as their “second home and the name emphasises the ‘homemade’ – or ‘hotel-made’ – concept that is unique to the Belgian love of hosting and gracious living”. This relaxing oasis, located in a historic early 20th century building, is just waiting to be discovered.

Hotel room view

Made in Louise offers a personalised and unique service, tailored to your every need. Each of the hotel’s 48 rooms are bright, comfortable, and full of character. All of the rooms at Made in Louise have a spacious bathroom with free toiletries and a hairdryer. Every room is equipped with a rain shower and some have a bathtub. Many of the rooms also offer views of the leafy courtyard.

The hotel is really cosy and very stylishly decorated. There were so many different drawings on the walls, carpeting as a rule, and different quotes on the walls. We loved the attention to detail in the hotel - each element has been so carefully designed, such as table lamps that look like small samurai guards.

Hotel reception

The reception even features a huge HOME sign that makes you feel more like a guest at a friend’s place rather than just at a regular hotel.

Hotel restaurant view

For business guests, there is a beautiful, spacious meeting room with floor to ceiling windows and direct access to the courtyard. A bright restaurant with an amazing view of the garden offers a delicious, hearty breakfast, featuring freshly baked pastries, baguettes, toast and bread, as well as the chance to taste authentic Belgian food, like waffles, pistolet bread rolls and Belgian cheese and ham. And, of course, no breakfast spread would be complete without traditional bacon and eggs! Later in the day, you can enjoy an organic Belgian beer or a glass of fine wine in the Made In Bar & Market.

Chill out in the garden and have a game on the huge chess board, designed by Mino. Or, on rainy days, practise your potting skills in the sumptuous pool room.

Even though the hotel is in the very centre of the city, just a 15-minute walk from the European Parliament and three stops to Gare du Midi on public transport, the garden and quiet location make you feel like you are somewhere far from busy city life.

I’ve been travelling ever since a was a child but my first large trip was at the age of 13 when I was sent to live for a couple months to London. This trip has changed me and ever since I just want to see more and more of our beautiful world. Every trip gives me new emotions, charge and strength to keep going further.
