Plitvice Lakes, Croatia: A Feast for the Senses
Plitvice Lakes in Croatia are a national treasure just waiting to be discovered. We only stopped there to take a couple of photos but were so blown away by the sheer volume of water coming from all sides that we ended up staying for the whole day!

Plitvice Lake National Park is famous all over the world for its cascading lakes; currently, 16 can be seen from the surface. The colours change constantly depending on the quantity of minerals or organisms in the water and the angle of the sunlight. The park was added to the UNESCO World Heritage register in 1979 and every year, over 1 million people visit. We were proud to be among them!

Trying to capture the perfect angle required a lot of experimenting!

You walk right along the lakeside pathway, surrounded on all sides by beautiful waterfalls. Can you see the tiny figures in the distance?

The highest waterfalls are the Large Waterfall at the end of the Lower Lakes, over which the Plitvica River falls, and Galovački buk in the Upper Lakes.

The alluring colours of the lakes, surrounded by rocky outcrops and lush foliage, create a stunning spectacle.

The lakes are renowned for their distinctive colours, ranging from azure to green, grey or blue.

Not surprisingly, this spot is popular with movie-makers.

Walkways and hiking trails wind around and across the water, and Lake Kozjak ferry links the upper and lower lakes.

This location is sure to bring out your romantic side!
