The Road from Switzerland to Liechtenstein in Style
Switzerland is popular not only for its cheese and watches, but also for its unbelievable scenery so, when we went to Zurich, we decided it would be a shame to spend the whole weekend in one city.

We chose to take a quick road trip from Zurich to Liechtenstein (which takes just one and a half hours, one way) and left our amazing hotel in Zurich.

With the help of Sixt car rentals, which always has the best deals and the newest cars on the market, it didn’t take us long to find our brand new white Mercedes. Along with the car, we also got useful advice on the best places to visit during our road trip.

We were ready to go.

The first stop was Rigi, a mountain which you can go all the way up to get an amazing view of the surrounding landscape, with other mountains, fields and a total of 13 lakes. All from one 360-degree viewpoint. You will need at least a day as the journey to the top can take several hours.

First by car, then by cable car, and after that, a small mountain train. We didn’t have that much time so we did a small hike around the mountain instead, which was totally worth it.

Perhaps this was an even better choice as we saw places no other tourists have been to, only locals, and we didn’t have to stand in huge crowds of tourists or queues.

Peaceful nature – it doesn't get any better than that.

Our next stop was Liechtenstein, one of the world's tiniest and richest countries, only 20 km long and 6 km wide.

We’d never been there before and we immediately fell in love with it.

This small country, surrounded by mountains embedded deep in the Alps, and crowned by whimsically turreted castles on every side makes you feel like you are in wonderland.

A yellow brick square in the middle of the city reminded me of an Elton John song - Yellow Brick Road.

Despite its size, the country has everything you could wish for and possesses an amazing feeling of peace and security.

Guttenberg Castle, on top of the mountains, is the perfect place to enjoy a view of the country from above - and have a picnic with delicious wine and cheese.

We loved our road trip to Liechtenstein, the tiny country nestled in the Alps, so much that we went back again the next day.
