The Grand Canyon from a Bird’s Eye View
To visit America and to see one of the real natural wonders - the Grand Canyon - was the dream of my life. But I never even dreamt about flying over it. A helicopter tour appeared to be something really amazing and a must have experience.

We came to the South part of the Canyon and chose a company offering helicopters with extra large windows for the best breathtaking views. This was exactly what we were looking for.

After brief safety instructions we were introduced to our pilot. Our small group of six people was really surprised to see a young and beautiful woman in the pilot’s seat.

We were enjoying our flight with our charming pilot Anne.

The most exciting thing about our 40 minute flight was the moment when we reached the edge of the Canyon. A triumphant instrumental piece of Richard Strauss “Thus Spoke Zarathustra” started to play in our headphones and my heartbeat quickened... It was one of the most exciting moments of my around the world travels.

You would imagine the Canyon as the mountainous area but instead you will see a void opening before your eyes just in the middle of the forest.

Grand Canyon has developed over the past 40 million years and today it is 446 km long, up to 29 km wide and about 2 km deep. It is one of the most amazing and mysterious places in the world. I was mesmerised looking thought the large windows trying to remember this stunning beauty!

The Colorado River from a bird’s eye view is astounding. And it was our last view before landing. 40 minutes flew like one second. But I was sure this was one of the greatest things I had done in my life!

If you would like to explore the Grand Canyon National Park and take a helicopter tour as we did, we recommend you to stay in the town of Tusayan at Best Western Premier Grand Canyon Square Inn. This town is the closest to the park entrance and it will take you just five minutes to get to the Grand Canyon airport from there.

The most popular and visited part of the Grand Canyon is its South side called the South Rim. After the must-do sightseeing, we drove further towards Las Vegas to find the newest attraction in this area called Skywalk. It’s in about four hour drive on the West side of the Canyon.

This transparent U-shaped platform was built in 2007 on the edge of a cliff, and its construction cost about 30 million dollars.

Absolutely stunning views all around. My dream has finally come true!
