Three Perfect Days in Zanzibar
I visited Zanzibar just for three days on my long trip across Africa, but it left an unforgettable impression. Zanzibar with its whitewashed, coral-rag houses of Stone Town and spectacular sea, edged by fine, white-sand beaches is a real African dream.

Over centuries different cultures have influenced Zanzibar to make it what it is today. Indian, Chinese, Persian, Portuguese, Dutch, British and other nations have settled here at one time or another and left their presence in art, culture and architecture.

Stone Town is the island’s major attraction. The streets here are far less crowded than in other African capitals, so it’s nice to walk along souvenir shops, bazaars, mosques, courtyards and squares.

The house in Zanzibar where Freddie Mercury lived in his early years is still a very popular attraction among the rock star’s fans.

Women in Zanzibar have amazing posture, as they used to carry everything on their heads. But locals don’t like to be photographed, so I almost wasn’t able to capture their stunning beauty.

After visiting the capital, we were mostly doing nothing – relaxing on the beach and enjoying ourselves.

I’ve been eating seafood three times a day here and still couldn’t get enough.

Our fisherman... This guy helped us to get the most delicious fishes from the ocean.

There are some fabulous beaches on the island, some of the best I’ve seen. They are an ideal spot where to sit back and watch amazing sunsets over the Indian Ocean.

In my childhood I believed that if you sit still you can hear how the sun sizzles entering the water.

Just flying away from Zanzibar, I realized how many little paradise islands are nearby. Some of these islands are only accessible at certain times of the day (because of the tide), but if you get there I really suggest having a picnic, just by yourself.
