Top 5 Must-do’s in Budapest

Budapest is the city of beauty and gastronomy. It seems that locals are more proud of their restaurants than of their museums, through both are worth visiting while in Budapest. Today I want to show you my top to-dos while being in the capital of Hungary. 

1. Have breakfast in the most beautiful café in the world

The New York Café is located in the historical building of the Boscolo Hotel, which was built in 1894. It has the official status of the most beautiful café in the world.   Entering the New York Café was like taking a step back into the past for me. I was overwhelmed by the opulence and refinement of the place.  And of course live piano music together with a wonderful latte completed this perfect morning.

2. Try foie gras

Locals call it libamai. Every day and as much as possible. My absolutely best foie gras was served in the Halászbástya restaurant for my birthday dinner.  The restaurant is located in the picturesque Fisherman’s Bastion, which Walt Disney took as a prototype for his Aladdin. It provides amazing views of Danube and the Parliament.

This video reminds me of a romantic movie scene, when in the middle of the dinner a musician steps out from behind the column and starts playing your favorite song… Listening to his wonderful music almost brought me to tears. 

3. Relax in Szechenyi Baths and Pools

Budapest is the only capital in the world with 120 thermal springs. Use it to relax and heal yourself! Lovely warm waters and the amazing architecture of the Szechenyi Baths and Pools is what qualifies them for my top must-do’s list in Budapest.

4. Take a boat trip along Danube

Before the sunset go to the embankment and take a boat trip along Danube. This city looks completely different from the water.

5. Enjoy life!

This was a sign on the wall of our room in Estilo Fashion Hotel, and we followed this rule.

  • After a car trip along the Balkans I felt in love with their beauty and charm. Dubrovnik, appeared to be one of my brightest impressions. It is a city of a picturesque old town with marble streets, baroque buildings and endless shimmering of the Adriatic. This city attracts millions of tourists and many celebrities such as Tina Turner, Brian Ferry. Diego Maradona was also recently spotted here. Now I understand why.
