Viceroy Bali:
a Truly Romantic Retreat with Stunning Views of the Jungles

Why should you come here?
To experience absolute privacy – all of the villas are located on the hills facing the jungles. So the only sounds you will hear are the waterfall down in the gorge and the birds singing. The resort is so peaceful and relaxing, it is as though time has stood still.
What amazed us the most?
A swim in your heated private swimming pool. Do it first thing in the morning. Jump out of bed, naked, close your eyes and feel like you are somewhere in a lost paradise. We’ve never been to paradise, but this is very close to what you feel staying at the classically elegant Viceroy Bali boutique hotel.

The most
special thing about the hotel
This family owned and operated hotel with immaculate service near arty inland Ubud has a very special ambience. You feel it the moment you arrive, but when you enter one of the 25 villas set on the edge of a steep ravine, overlooking the Petanu River gorge in Bali’s mountain foothills, you become speechless. The spacious bedroom, living space and bathroom are pretty swanky, but the real wow factor is the relaxation pavilion on the terrace, perched above your own outdoor pool with views of the dramatic Petanu River gorge beyond. We bet you will just want to spend your first days at your villa with amazing hillside views and maybe feel even more relaxed at the most tranquil and scenic spa.

How to
make the most of your stay
Dine at one of Bali’s best restaurants, serving enticing seasonal cuisine. Cascades Restaurant serves up tasty French food with an Asian twist. There's an impressive global wine list, too. Have a traditional Balinese Massage at Lembah Spa, which offers spectacular views of the Petanu River Valley to complement the therapeutic treatments.
Do nothing but lie by the beautiful infinity-edge pool overlooking towering palm trees. Here at Viceroy Bali, nature is the spectacle. Sit by your private villa pool overlooking the rich tropical landscape with glimpses of monkeys leaping through the hillside trees and exotic jungle noises in the air.
Wake to the early morning mists gently lifting from the hillside as the pink rays of the sun slowly warm the day.

What else
to do and to see
Take one of the helicopter tours offered by the hotel. For instance, take the Kintamani Volcano Sky Tour and see the spectacular Kintamani Volcano and Caldera Lake from the air, renowned as Bali’s most famous landmark.
Walk in the Ubud Monkey Forest - a sacred nature reserve located near the southern end of Jalan Monkey Forest. The habitat houses a temple and approximately 340 crab-eating Macaque monkeys. You’ve probably seen this place in the Eat.Pray.Love movie; now it’s time to see it with your own eyes.

Explore Ubud – one of the most amazing places on Bali. The hotel has a free shuttle service on request to Ubud town centre where you will find lots of shops, art galleries and restaurants to suit all budgets. As Ubud is Bali’s centre of the arts, be sure to visit the Agung Rai Museum of Art and the Puri Lukisan Museum.
If you feel like getting adventurous after a good rest, head out on a village tour, rice-paddy trek, big jungle swing, waterfalls exploration, rustic bike ride, elephant safari or go river rafting.
Eat well and as much as you can. The restaurant at the hotel is amazing, but be sure to try the local restaurants in Ubud. Atman Café and Clear Café are our top picks. They are heaven - especially for vegan and vegetarians.
Do yoga every day. You can order private lessons at the hotel or head to one of the public yoga classes in Ubud. We suggest the Yoga Barn studio, as we loved everything there.
How to
get here
It’s a 1.5-hour taxi drive from Bali's Ngurah Rai International Airport. If you'd rather commandeer a copter, the hotel has its own helipad. The flight from the airport takes 12 minutes, and is available during the day time.
