What amazed us most?

The concierge service. We got the best restaurant advice ever from the hotel concierge on our first evening in Hong Kong - exactly what we were looking for - a family-style Chinese restaurant with delicious Beijing duck.

Why should you come here?

The Conrad Hong Kong is conveniently located between Hong Kong Central and Hong Kong Park, has great connections to the MRT (subway), and is set on top of Pacific Place shopping mall – ideal for dropping off your purchases and then continuing to shop until you drop.

THE MOST

special thing about the hotel

I really enjoyed the swimming pool area, which looks and feels like an inviting oasis, not to mention the great selection of food and drinks. One evening, we just wanted a relaxing time, not too far from our comfortable spacious room with an amazing harbour view, and we found exactly what we were looking for here.

HOW TO MAKE

the most of your stay

  1. Choose carefully between a harbour view and a peak view room – whether you'd prefer to overlook the bustling city and a busy bay or a tranquil green mountain depends on you and your mood.
  2. Use the opportunity to access the Executive Lounge on the 59th floor – the harbour view, especially at night, is gorgeous from up there.
  3. Have dinner at the Conrad’s Michelin-starred Golden Leaf – one of the most celebrated Cantonese cuisine restaurants in Hong Kong.

WHAT ELSE

to see and do

From bustling Hong Kong Central Station, take the famous Star Ferry across spectacular Victoria Bay to Kowloon, the mainland part of Hong Kong. It is known for exorbitant luxury shopping, but I recommend taking a leisurely stroll along the bay after visiting the Hong Kong Museum of Arts and Hong Kong Museum of History. Try to head back around 8PM when the ferries slow down in the middle of the bay to allow passengers to enjoy the laser show projected on the skyscrapers of Hong Kong Island.

On another afternoon, exit the main lobby of the Conrad Hong Kong and take a right to Hong Kong Park – it will take you two minutes to arrive at this green oasis surrounded by hotels and office buildings. It is home to several historical landmarks, such Flagstaff House with its Museum of Tea Ware (worth a visit, especially for tea lovers), but my favourite was Edward Youde Aviary – a 3,000 square metre aviary, home to about 600 birds representing 80 species. The real draw is that some of the birds are very friendly and come really close to visitors. The tram to another Hong Kong natural landmark – Victoria Peak – departs from the park as well. If you don’t mind queuing too much, head up there for a breathtaking view of the city, the sea, and the surrounding hills.

While in Hong Kong, we also took the opportunity to take a day trip to Macau – an amazing journey from the British past to the Portuguese one, all in Asia! A very pleasant 1-hour ride with a high-speed jet foil ferry that operates 24/7.

HOW TO

get here

Take the airport express train to Hong Kong Central – a smooth 35-minute ride – and then look for the free hotel shuttle: line H1 will take you directly to the Conrad Hong Kong. On your way back, don’t hesitate to use the same route and be sure to use the luggage check-in service at the station to travel light.
